New Bar Replaces Old Pub
A revamped city centre pub reopened its doors yesterday after a £½m. facelift.
Hartlepool-based brewers Cameron’s took the occasion to launch a brand new premium lager which will be test-marketed at the new Masters’ Bar and Diner, opposite Necastle’s St. Nicholas Cathedral.
The new bar – which used to be the Post Office pub – is a joint venture by Cameron’s and Tyneside businessman Joe Robertson’s City Leisure Group.
Mr. Jim MacKenzie, chairman of Cameron’s, pulled the first pint.
Another joint venture by Cameron’s Brewing and City Leisure will open its doors on December 9, when the old Lord Chancellor pub in the Groat Market, Newcastle, will be reopened as Macey’s.
