Robertson Plans Hotel
Newcastle-based City and Leisure group boss Joe Robertson is planning to go into hotel development for the first time.
He has found favour with Newcastle City Council’s Land and Property Committee which has chosen his proposals before those of several other interested developers to convert a former cold store on the site of the former fish market on Newcastle Quayside.
A busy developer of nightspots in Newcastle in recent years, Robertson wants to convert the 11,000 sq ft site into a hotel, pub and restaurant.
The Victorian building is owned by the city council which leased it to Quayside Frozen Foods, a lease that has a number of years to run.
