Joe Robertson, now resident in Monaco, was responsible for a number of prominent developments in Newcastle upon Tyne including Allied Irish Bank on Collingwood Street, the former Fish Market on the Quayside, Newcastle. The corner of Sandhill and Quayside now known as Chase together with Sports Café on Grainger Street now known as the Castle Mile. The Waterside Hotel on the Quayside. Waterstones building on Grey Street together with the former Midland Bank on Grey Street now Zizzis.
Other developments included the Eldon Café in Eldon Square, Newcastle Airport Hotel and Northgate House on the corner of John Dobson Street and St Mary’s Place together with the Long Bar on Westgate Road.
In 2006 Louis Restaurant was opened by Bernard Paul. Together with Bernard Paul, Joe Robertson formulated this innovative conceptual approach to dining in Newcastle.
Louis has a high profile clientele and an exceptional Mediterranean menu. The design by Barry Nicholson still stands the test of time.
