Joe Robertson, now resident in Monaco, was responsible for a large number of prominent developments in Newcastle upon Tyne.
During 1997 Joe Robertson acquired the magnificent Grade 2 Listed Building on the junction of Westgate Road and Grainger Street Newcastle formerly a TSB bank and more recently the offices of a local firm of solicitors.
The property was in a poor state of repair and much partitioned internally in an unsympathetic style having little regard for the heritage and magnificence of the building.
Having obtained vacant possession the building was refurbished to its former grandeur however in the process the new tenant inadvertently demolished a part of the rear wall and the building collapsed internally from three walls leaving only the East elevation to Grainger Street standing.
This wall was supported during the ensuing three years until negotiations were concluded and the property rebuilt.
